Remove duplicate lines
Paste a list with one item per line; repeated lines are removed and the order is kept.
Good for
- Email lists and contact lists merged from several places.
- Keywords, tags and hashtags.
- Log lines, file names and lists exported from a spreadsheet column.
Questions
Which copy of a duplicate is kept?
The first. Later copies are removed and everything else stays in its original order. To sort the list as well, use the line sorter afterwards.
Are “Apple” and “apple” duplicates?
By default, yes: case is ignored, and the first spelling is kept. Tick “Match case” to treat them as different lines.
What about spaces at the ends of lines?
With “Ignore spaces at the ends” ticked (the default), “apple” and “apple ” count as the same line, and the kept line is trimmed.
How many lines can it handle?
Tens of thousands of lines are fine: it all happens in your browser, so the limit is your device, and nothing is uploaded.
